FreePPP 1.05 Setup

1. Open your Apple menu, go to Control Panels, and select FreePPP.
2. Set the Port Name: to which port your modem is on.
3. Idle Timeout (minutes): should be set to None.
4. Echo Interval (seconds): should be set to Off.
5. Check Disable Auto Connect, Hangup on Close and Quiet Mode.

7. Click on Config....
8. Enter XMission into the PPP Server Name: field.
9. Flow Control: should be set to CTS & RTS (DTR) unless you have a Global Village Modem, then it should be set to CTS Only.
10. Enter your local XMission dial-up number in the Phone Num field.
11. Set Modem connect timeout: to 90 seconds.

13. Click on Authentication....
14. Enter your XMission username in the Auth. ID: field
15. Enter your XMission password in the Password: field.

    Note: Your account name and password are case-sensitive.

16. Retries: should at least be set to 1 and the Timeout: should be set to 3 seconds.
17. Click on OK.

19. Click on LCP Options.
20. Click on Default Settings.
21. Check all boxes next to Protocol field compression and Addr/cntl field compression.
22. Check Want and Will under the Remote column next to Authentication.
23. Click on OK.

25. Click on IPCP Options....
26. Click on Default Settings.
27. Uncheck all boxes next to TCP Header Comp.(VJ).
28. Click on OK.
29. 
30. Click on Done.
