SALT LAKE CITY, Tuesday, June 7, 2011 – XMission is joining some of the largest networks across the world, including Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Akamai, and Limelight, in delivering content for 24 hours over IPv6 during World IPv6 Day, tomorrow, June 8. These networks hope to use World IPv6 Day as motivation for service providers and organizations across the globe to begin transitioning services to IPv6 before IPv4 addresses run out.

"When IPv4 was created along with the initial Internet, it was assumed that it was a large enough address space to never be exhausted," said Pete Ashdown, president and founder of XMission Internet.  "However, the popularization of the Internet has proven otherwise as the last block of IPv4 addresses was handed out this year.  IPv6 provides far more address space for today's modern Internet demands."

XMission is IPv6 ready and is rolling out services to customers now.

"IPv6 will solve many problems inherent in the traditional Internet.  I am proud that XMission is on the forefront again with this enabling technology," said Pete Ashdown, XMission president and founder.

Internet users should not see any changes in their service during World IPv6 Day.

XMission welcomes existing customers to test IPv6 services in the coming months. To test this service, interested customers should email XMission Support at support@xmission.com
