#Connect the serial end (metal) of your management cable to  Com port 1 on your computer and the other end (plastic) into the management  port of your Cisco router.
#Click <span class="button">Start</span>, go to <span class="button">Programs</span>, <span class="button">Accessories</span>, <span class="button">Communications</span>,  and select <span class="button">Hyperterminal</span>.
#Double-click on <span class="button">Hyperterm</span>.
#Enter any name for the connection you'd like and choose an icon.
#Click <span class="button">OK</span>.
#In the <span class="button">Connect using:</span> field, choose <span class="button">Direct to Com1</span>.
