Configuring
The first time you open WS_FTP, a
window will appear. Fill it out as follows:- Enter "XMission" in the field.
- Enter "ftp.xmission.com" in the field.
- For , select .
- Enter your XMission username in the field.
- Enter your XMission password in the field.
- Check if you don't wish to type it every time.
- In the field, where the word account is your XMission username, enter /home/users/a/account/public_html.
- Click the button.
- Click on the button to connect.
Uploading
- Open WS_FTP and connect using your profile.
- On the left side, , find the folder which contains the file you wish to upload For example, "C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\website\".
- On the right side, , find the directory you wish to upload your page to For example, /home/users/a/acctname/public_html/.
- If you are uploading .html, .cgi, or any other text files, click . If you are uploading .jpg, .exe, .wav, .mov, or any other binary files, click .
- Click ONCE on the file you wish to upload to highlight it.
- Click on the
Downloading
- Open WS_FTP and connect using your profile.
- On the right side, , find the folder which contains the file you wish to download For example, /home/users/a/acctname/public_html.
- On the left side, , find the directory you wish to download your page to For example, "C:\Program Files\Microsoft FrontPage\pages\".
- If you are downloading .html, .cgi, or any other text files, click . If you are downloading .jpg, .exe, .wav, .mov, or any other binary files, click .
- Click once on the file you wish to download to highlight it.
- Click on the
Renaming
- Open WS_FTP and connect using your profile.
- On the right side, , find the folder which contains the file you wish to rename For example, /home/users/a/acctname/public_html.
- Click ONCE on the file you wish to rename to highlight it.
- Click on the button on the right.
- Enter the new name for the file in the box.
- Click on the button.
Deleting
- Open WS_FTP and connect using your profile.
- On the right side, , find the folder which contains the file you wish to delete For example, /home/users/a/acctname/public_html.
- Click ONCE on the file you wish to delete to highlight it.

Changing Permissions
- Open WS_FTP and connect using your profile.
- On the right side, , find the folder which contains the file you wish to change permissions on. For example, /home/users/a/acctname/public_html.
- Right-click on the file you want to change permissions for, and select .
- Check the appropriate boxes for read, write, or execute permissions.
