Salt Lake City — May 13, 2009 — XMission today released its new residential digital phone service, XMission Voice, to UTOPIA customers in Utah.
"We are pleased to provide a superior voice product at a low cost to our UTOPIA customers,” said XMission president and founder, Pete Ashdown.
All customers who qualify for a UTOPIA Data connection can bundle it with XMission Voice. XMission Voice starts at $40 per month, plus one-time installation and hardware charges. Unlike most voice products, XMission's price includes all taxes and fees according to XMission vice president of operations, Grant Sperry. Customers can also keep their current telephone number.
Features include free nationwide long-distance (in the contiguous 48 states), voice mail, voice mail to email, voice mail for iPhone, call waiting, call forwarding, call blocking, 3-way calling, caller ID block, and emergency forwarding.
XMission Voice utilizes Voice over IP (VoIP) technology. In addition to cost savings when compared to traditional phone service, digital phone service has immense growth potential, according to Ashdown: “Voice over IP is the future of telephony and our customers will find great satisfaction in its use.”
“XMission’s new telephone service is a great demonstration of the kind of innovation that’s promoted through an open service model network,” says Todd Marriott, UTOPIA’s Executive Director. “XMission is one of our strongest service providers – bringing next generation technology to customers in UTOPIA’s 16 member cities. These kinds of improved technologies ensure UTOPIA members will always be making the most of our fiber-to-the-door network, receiving the best technologies in the market.”
XMission Voice works with most residential telephones. UTOPIA installation crews will assist with the initial hardware setup and necessary configuration. “Our customers will not see any interruption in their phone service,” said Sperry. “Their phones will work as reliably as they always have.”
