Creating Email Filters
Logging In
- Point your web browser to http://mail.xmission.com/filters/
- In the space below , enter your XMission username.
- In the space below , enter your XMission password.
- Click on .
Creating a New Email Filter
- Click on .
- Click .
- Choose the header you would like to filter from the first drop-down menu. (e.g.: If you're filtering all email from hotmail.com, choose .)
- Choose how you would like to filter that header from he next drop-down menu. (Using the above example, choose .)
- In the next blank, fill in the pattern you are trying to match. (Using the above example, type "hotmail.com" in the space provided.)
- In that last drop-down menu, choose what you would like to do with the filtered email.*
Specific Filter Examples
Filtering all email not directly addressed to username@xmission.com:*
- Click on .
- In the first drop-down menu, choose .
- In the second drop-down menu, choose .
- In the blank provided, enter your email address. (e.g.: "username@xmission.com")
- Select from the last drop-down menu.
The completed filter should read:
If the To Header Does Not Contain "username@xmission.com" then Save this message in "Spam" mail file.
Filtering all email from domain.com:
- Click on .
- In the first drop-down menu, choose .
- In the second drop-down menu, choose .
- In the blank provided, enter the domain name you're filtering. (e.g.: "domain.com")
- Select from the last drop-down menu.
The completed filter should read:
If the From Header Contains "domain.com" then Save this message in "Spam" mail file.
Filtering email with SpamAssassin scores
- Click on .
- In the first drop-down menu, choose .
- In the second drop-down menu, choose .
- In the blank provided, enter the score you would like to filter at, shown with asterisks. (E.g.: I want to filter anything over 10, so I'd enter **********.)
- Select from the last drop-down menu.
The completed filter should read:
If the X-Spam-Level Header Contains "**********" then Save this message in "Spam" mail file.
Filtering email with SpamAssassin's default positive score (8)
- Click on .
- In the first drop-down menu, choose .
- In the second drop-down menu, choose .
- In the blank provided, enter nothing.
- Select from the last drop-down menu.
The completed filter should read:
If the X-Spam-Flag Header Exists at all then Save this message in "Spam" mail file.
