Code Greene develops custom websites and online applications for businesses across North America. Pushing the limits of what clients do with their websites, Code Greene integrates internal systems and automates business processes. They view the Internet as the next horizon for software, and have the infrastructure and ability to create profit-generating web solutions for businesses.
Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, Code Greene has a talented young staff of programming and technology experts lead by Partner and CTO Mac Newbold, and Partner and CEO Mark Polson. According to Polson, “Our goal is to just get better and better at what we do, to be able to create more value and be more competitive in the marketplace. That's where we're moving to in the short term.“
Initially, Code Greene subscribed to DSL service from a major telecommunications provider. Code Greene, according to Newbold, found the service unreliable. “Tech support was nonexistent. They wouldn't admit that we could use Linux on their network and wouldn't give us a static IP address. They insisted that we could only have one machine on the DSL line and that we had to pay extra to allow additional computers to access the line.”
Code Greene decided to look at other connectivity options for their growing business. For years, Newbold had a personal account with XMission, and decided to trust them with Code Greene's services as well: “We’ve always liked the way that XMission does business. Ever since I switched over to XMission, I've been recommending it to all of my friends, family, and clients because it really is just so much easier. XMission's always had a very geek- friendly service, which, in a lot of ways, is what makes it so business friendly too.”
XMission helped Code Greene make the transition to an XMission business connection and eventually set them up with colocation services. As Code Greene's business increased, they decided to find a new office location and selected one close to XMission. This allowed Code Greene to work closely with XMission staff and have immediate access to their equipment in the data center. XMission also provides a 10 Megabit inter-office connection to Code Greene. “I don't know how we lucked out to have that office space available just in time, but it's been great. It's great to be so close and the connection is rock solid,” said Newbold.
After Code Greene switched to XMission, they saw immediate benefits to their business, including increased support and stability. According to Newbold, “The community that XMission fosters is just awesome. They're right there, they're friendly and willing to help. I know that if I had any problems where I needed more router expertise than I have handy or anything like that then I can find half a dozen guys at XMission who will help me with that in a second. It's nice to have such great, knowledgeable people so close.”
Code Greene clients also found XMission's service and infrastructure “jaw-dropping” according to Newbold. “Everything has been there. If our clients ask about our servers, we're able to tell them, 'It's in the building right behind us. They have generators on the roof with diesel. Batteries on warmers all the time and three different fuel contracts if there were anything to happen.' I've never seen better customer service...at any organization.”
Code Greene also found that using XMission improved employee retention: “XMission has also been a way for us to get better people on our team. They’re highly attracted to the fact that we have 10 Megabits up and down at the workplace, especially for development. DSL and cable can only get you so far.”
“I've never had any hesitation about recommending XMission to anyone, and I'm kind of picky about technical stuff,” concludes Newbold. “We have the utmost confidence in the people at XMission. They know what they are talking about and what they are doing with the infrastructure they have set up.”
