Configuring

The first time you open Fetch you will see a Session Profile window. If it doesn't come up by itself, click on File and select New Connection. Fill it out as follows:

  1. In the Host: field, enter ftp.xmission.com.
  2. In the User ID: field, enter your XMission account name.
  3. In the Password: field, enter your XMission password.
  4. Click on OK to connect.
  5. Click on Customize and select Preferences.
  6. Click on the Upload tab.
  7. Next to Default text format:, select Text.
  8. Next to Default non-text format:, select Raw Data.
  9. Uncheck Add .txt suffix to text files.
  10. Click OK.


Uploading

  1. Open Fetch and connect using your XMission profile.
  2. On the left, locate the directory on the remote server that you want to upload the file to. For example, /home/users/a/acctname/public_html.
  3. Click on the Put File button
  4. Locate the file you would like to upload and select it.
  5. Click on OK.
  6. Make sure the Format is correct for the type of file you're uploading For example; .html, .txt, and .cgi files should be Text, and .wav, .jpg, and .gif files should be Raw Data.
  7. Click on the OK button to begin uploading the file


Downloading

  1. Open Fetch and connect using your XMission profile.
  2. On the left, locate the file on the remote system that you want to download.
  3. Click Get.


Renaming

  1. Open Fetch and connect using your XMission profile.
  2. On the left, click on the file that you wish to rename.
  3. Click on Remote.
  4. Select Rename Directory or File....
  5. Type the new name for the file.
  6. Click OK.


Deleting

  1. Open Fetch and connect using your XMission profile.
  2. On the left, click on the file that you wish to delete.
  3. Click on Remote.
  4. Select Delete Directory or File....
  5. Click OK.


Changing Permissions

  1. Open Fetch and connect using your XMission profile.
  2. Select the file you want to change the permissions on.
  3. Click on Remote and select Set Permissions.
  4. Check or uncheck boxes to set the read, write, and execute permission on the file.
  5. Click OK.
