Note: XMission's Dial-up Accelerator is designed to speed up web browsing for dial-up connections.

Windows / Internet Explorer

  1. Click on Tools and select Internet Options....
  2. Click on the Connections tab.
  3. If you Dial-Up to XMission select XMission in the "Dial-up" window pane and click Settings...
  4. If you connect with DSL click the LAN Settings... button.
  5. Check Use automatic configuration script.
  6. In the text field to the right of Address enter http://proxy.xmission.com/accelerator.pac
  7. Press OK at the bottom.

Firefox

  1. Find your Preferences settings. This varies by platform.
    Linux - Edit Menu, then Preferences.
    OSX - Firefox Menu, then Preferences.
    Windows - Tools Menu, then Options.
  2. Select the Advanced section.
  3. Press the Settings... button after Configure how Firefox connects to the Internet.
  4. Select Automatic proxy configuration URL: and enter http://proxy.xmission.com/accelerator.pac in the text field.
  5. Press OK at the bottom.

Apple OSX / Safari

  1. Click on the Apple icon and select System Preferences.
  2. Click on Network.
  3. Click on Advanced... in the lower right corner of the Network window.
  4. Select the Proxies tab.
  5. Click the button next to Automatic Proxy Configuration.
  6. In the text field to the right of URL enter http://proxy.xmission.com/accelerator.pac.

Google Chrome

  1. Pull down the menu under the icon shaped like a wrench.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select the Under the Hood tab.
  4. Under the Network section, press the Change proxy settings button.
  5. Click the check button next to Automatic Proxy Configuration.
  6. In the text field to the right of Autoconfiguration URL: enter http://proxy.xmission.com/accelerator.pac'.
  7. Press Close.
