These easy to follow instructions will help you configure Apple's Mail.app client for use with your @xmission.com email service.


  1. Click the Mail icon in the Dock. If you are launching Mail for the first time, it will prompt you to set up an account. If you already have an account set up in Mail and wish to add another, click Mail > Preferences > Accounts then click the + (plus) sign in the lower left corner.
  2. Enter the Following information:
    1. In the Full Name field, enter Your Name.
    2. In the Email Address field, enter your XMission email address.
    3. In the Password field, enter your XMission password, then click Continue.
  3. In the Incoming Mail Server window, enter the following configuration settings:
    1. In the Account Type drop down menu, select IMAP.
    2. In the Description field, enter XMission Email
    3. In the Incoming Mail Server: field, enter mail.xmission.com
    4. In the User Name and Password fields, enter your XMission user name and password, then click Continue.
  4. In the Outgoing Mail Server window, enter the following configuration settings:
    1. In the Description field, enter XMission Mail.
    2. In the Outgoing Mail Server: field enter mail.xmission.com
    3. In the Use Authentication field, check the box and verify your XMission username and password, then click Continue.
  5. Verify the settings are correct on the Account Summary screen, then click Create

Mail should now be set up to send/receive email using your XMission account. Using IMAP allows you to check email via your Mail.app program as well as access https://webmail.xmission.com when you are away from your primary computer.
