The Zimbra Web Client can Import and Export contacts in CSV (comma-separated value) format. You can find this functionality in the Import/Export section of Preferences.

For importing, it supports the following variations of CSV:

  • Account contacts (other Zimbra systems)
  • Outlook 2003 Contacts
  • Outlook Contacts
  • Thunderbird Contacts
  • Yahoo! Contacts
  • Windows Live! Contacts

If you are importing from another source, can try auto-detect or you can edit the .CSV file in Excel to make the format match Zimbra's. The only difference between various CSV formats are the column names.
