SALT LAKE CITY, UT, July 5, 2012 - XMission now offers 1 Gigabit-per-second (Gbps) connections to residential UTOPIA customers across the Wasatch Front. Qualified customers can purchase this connection for $299 per month.

"CenturyLink and Comcast won't be able to touch these speeds," said Pete Ashdown, XMission president and founder. "This demonstrates the power of true fiber-to-the-home. When you need the capacity, you have it."

XMission is one of only two UTOPIA providers selected to provide 1 Gigabit service. According to Ashdown, "XMission has the robust network required to provide these speeds. No other Internet provider in Utah has more diverse upstream capacity."

According to UTOPIA, residents who qualify for this service join a very small number of communities nationwide who have access to Gigabit residential service, including Chattanooga (TN), Morristown (TN), Lafayette (LA), and Sebastopol (CA).

UTOPIA cities with active footprints include Murray, Midvale, West Valley City, Orem, Lindon, Payson, Perry, Brigham City, Tremonton, Centerville, and Layton.
