Local-area attorney and community volunteer to champion smart, responsive leadership

Park City, Utah, March 17, 2008 - Katherine Lofft, a Park City attorney, has filed a Declaration of Candidacy to run as a Democrat for the Utah state House of Representatives from District 53.

“I am excited to enter this race, and I thank the many people who have already communicated their enthusiasm and support,” said Ms. Lofft. She continued, “I am running because I believe our state House should more closely reflect the changing demographic in Utah. I also want to help ensure that our lawmakers are more fully responsive to our own expressed concerns. In the coming months, I look forward to meeting voters across the district and discussing the issues that matter to them.”

A resident of Park City for nearly 4 years, Ms. Lofft has already developed a reputation as a community activist and civic leader. She is on the executive committee of the Board of Directors and a volunteer for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake and Habitat for Humanity for Summit & Wasatch Counties, and is a co-founder of the new Park City chapter of Utah Moms for Clean Air. She is also has been an active supporter of and volunteer for other area non-profits, including the Park City Film Series and the Kimball Arts Center.

A graduate of Smith College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Ms. Lofft is a corporate attorney and former business executive and manager who has practiced, among others, in the areas of corporate governance, ethics and regulatory compliance. Ms. Lofft has served as general counsel for a number of companies, including a division of GE Commercial Finance (formerly GE Capital). Currently the principal of Alliance Legal Services, Ms. Lofft represents small and mid-sized businesses and individual entrepreneurs and investors in the greater Park City and Salt Lake City areas.
