XMission Significantly Expands Network Capacity with High-Speed IP Transit Services from XO Communications
Utah’s Leading Independent ISP Deploys 10 Gigabit Ethernet IP Transit Services from XO
SALT LAKE CITY, UT – June 22, 2009 – XMission today announced that it has significantly expanded its network capacity by deploying 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GigE) IP transit services from XO Communications. By increasing its network capacity from 13 Gigabits per second to 22 Gigabits per second, XMission will be better positioned to support the demands of higher-bandwidth customers and IP traffic growth across its network.
“With our new 10 Gigabit connection to XO, XMission has nearly doubled its available bandwidth and given its customers the most diverse and robust network in Utah,” said XMission president and founder, Pete Ashdown. According to Ashdown, this increase in capacity allows XMission to offer even more competitive pricing on business services, provide better redundancy, and accommodate additional high-bandwidth customers.
“XMission has always maintained a robust and multi-homed network. It is something we are very good at. We stay ahead of demand and make sure that our business and residential customers have access to the bandwidth they need when they're online,” said Ashdown.
“XMission has been an XO customer for many years and this new agreement solidifies our commitment to supporting the wider adoption of broadband services across the state of Utah,” said Shawn Adamson, XO’s vice president of sales for the west region. “The XO network is uniquely engineered to meet the needs of customers like XMission that have experienced significant IP traffic growth. By continually investing in our network, XO can help customers meet their increased bandwidth needs today and tomorrow.”
“With XO deploying a multi-terabit routing platform in the United States, we determined it would be a great opportunity to upgrade our existing Gigabit circuit to 10 Gigabit,” said Brad Mertz, Director of Network Operations for XMission. “With the new platform, XO has taken great strides to provide even better connectivity through the Intermountain region.”
